A Room of Her Own

We're ready for baby (we think...). She's "due" Friday, Nov. 10. Though she shows no sign of wanting to make her way out of me.

We assembled the crib the last weekend of October. We thought the best way to get the spring in it was to have Patrick hold it from below - it ended up not being the best way, but it was worth a try, and makes for a great picture:















After the crib was assembled, we proceeded to decorate the room a bit more. Thanks to the generosity and creativity of many a family member, the room is bedecked with a moon & stars theme. This picture only shows a small sampling of all the decorations:















We give special thanks to Gran and Grandad Klest and Gram Walsh for the crib - it will serve us well. Gran Klest's comment was "don't assemble the crib, now she'll never come!!!" We hope she does come, and soon, since Gran will be out here on Saturday, Grandad is coming the following Friday, and Gram will follow on Nov. 20.

We set the date for her baptism - Jan 7 in Chicago - and Patrick's boss joked that it was a bold move -- because what if she's not born by then!?! (I was ready to hit him). The Doc I saw on Friday said that their practice is to induce at 41 weeks - so we're assured of a birthdate by November 17. That seems like a looong 10 days!!!!

We also have her Pack n' Play set up downstairs - for quick changes and naptime close to Mom's desk. It's never too early to get her comfortable with books (though CDs may be obsolete by the time she is old enough to be aware of music media...). Behind the mobile are the Harry Potter Books - to the left are classics - Twain, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Salinger, Shelley, Thoreau, Orwell, Shakespeare.... etc... so she can take her pick... Her baby library is upstairs - complete with Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny, Are You My Mother?, Pat the Bunny, Seuss's ABCs, etc... I haven't counted, but it's well over 20!




















We hope that the next blog entry comes with pictures of someone in the crib or pack n' play (besides Patrick) -- or even better, in our arms!!!
